Why is Chiropractic Important?

“The doctor of the future will give no medicine, but will interest his patients in the care of the human frame, in diet, and in the cause and prevention of disease.”
-Thomas Edison, Inventor

Daniel David Palmer, founder of Palmer School of Chiropractic and hailed as the founder of chiropractic, said, “Many patients imagine that they have tried everything. True, they have used many remedies, but they have never had the cause of their infirmity adjusted.”

ConsumerReports.org estimates that 80 percent of Americans have been afflicted with back pain at some point in their lives. Lower back pain is actually among the top five reasons people go to see a physician.   Fifty-nine percent of those individuals have received care from a chiropractic physician and have been highly satisfied. But why is Chiropractic important?

Chiropractic physicians are “masters” of the skeletal system. Today’s graduating Doctors of Chiropractic have studied and trained in a post-secondary college or university for at least seven years. Seven years with concentrations on anatomy, neurology, nutrition, acupuncture, physiotherapy and balancing your body using their hands. No medicine, no surgery, just using their hands. Chiropractic is a science. It is safe. And it has been proven.

Your brain sends messages to your body through your nervous system. Think of rush-hour traffic on a major highway. When there is a roadblock, everything backs up and cars spill out onto side roads. Now the back roads are also affected. It’s the same with your body. Once you have been been injured or stress has caused stiffness and tension, your body becomes unbalanced, and those messages from your brain can’t get through. Your pain spreads to other parts of your body causing real trouble. Alignment of your spine by chiropractic adjustment has been shown to help your body “self heal” other injuries that could have become more serious had your spine not been properly aligned.

Today, chiropractic care has been shown to help control what once were debilitating ailments that forced patients to become dependent on medicine. Chronic ear infections in children, migraine headaches, seasonal allergies, temporomandibular disorders (TMD), asthma and many other conditions can be helped by chiropractic.

Your spine is a vital conduit through which enormous amounts of information pass. It should not be in the care of just anyone.
