We’re pleased to share big news for the chiropractic community in New Jersey — Assembly Bill A3099 has officially been signed into law by Governor Murphy!
After significant advocacy and broad, bipartisan support in both the Assembly and Senate, A3099 will now enable students nearing the completion of their chiropractic medicine programs to participate in meaningful clinical preceptorships under the direct supervision of a State-licensed chiropractor.
What This Means for Chiropractic Students
Under the new law:
- Students in their final year (or final two semesters) of chiropractic education can participate in supervised clinical experiences, known as preceptorships.
- The State Board of Chiropractic Examiners will approve qualified New Jersey-licensed chiropractors to serve as preceptors.
- Participating students will apply for a limited license to engage in this hands-on training, gaining practical, real-world skills before graduation.
This law not only enhances the training pipeline for future chiropractors but also aims to strengthen workforce retention in New Jersey by connecting upcoming professionals with practicing clinicians early in their careers.
A Success for the Chiropractic Community
This achievement reflects the hard work of the ANJC legislative team, allied legislators, and advocates who made this initiative a priority — and marks a significant step toward expanding clinical opportunities for chiropractic students across the state.
Stay tuned for additional updates on implementation timelines and guidance from the Board of Chiropractic Examiners!
