Victory Announcement: A4913 Signed Into Law, Ending Virtual Credit Card Mandates

Jan 12, 2024 | News for Members, PAC & Legislative Updates

Dear ANJC Members,

A monumental triumph for our profession has been achieved!

On Monday, January 8, 2024, Governor Phil Murphy officially signed Assembly Bill 4913 into law, a milestone achievement reflecting our association and colleagues’ relentless advocacy and unity.

Why Is This Important?

  • This law stems from unwavering efforts over many months and unanimous support in the Senate and Assembly and paves the way for fairer reimbursement practices. It ensures that healthcare providers like us can choose our preferred payment method, whether it’s Electronic Funds Transfers (EFT), paper checks, or other means—without being cornered into accepting only one, often less convenient option.
  • In a move that champions our rights and needs, this bill also protects out-of-network providers from restrictive payment methods and mandates transparency from carriers regarding any associated fees. Most importantly, it upholds our choice of payment method as an independent criterion, free from influencing credentialing decisions.

As we anticipate this legislation taking effect on July 6, 2024, we express our profound gratitude for your support and collective voice. Your dedication and commitment to the cause have brought this change to fruition.

Rest assured, the ANJC will continue to keep you informed and prepared as we navigate this new chapter together. Let’s celebrate this win for the autonomy and respect it brings to our profession.

In solidarity and support,

Dr. Andreas Skounakis

Dr. Victor Rossi
