Insurance Carrier Payment Options

As a reminder, carriers can still pay a provider with a virtual credit card however, they must provide a fee-free option. It is up to the provider to take the necessary steps to choose the fee-free option.

Refresher for Paper Billers

While there are many benefits to submitting claims electronically, some providers choose to bill with paper claims.

As carriers update their scanning software, paper claims are coming under stricter scrutiny aligning with electronic claim submission requirements.

Please review this example HCFA to ensure your claims are filled out correctly.

The example is for a provider who did not accept assignment. If you are accepting assignment, Box 13 should include “Signature on File” and check “YES” in Box 27.
